CHAPTER 6:
Kohlberg’s Conventional Levels relate to me when I look back at how I have grown from one stage to the next.
In my life, I definitely went through a stage 4 ½. I went through a “what is right is relative,” and I did not want to follow rules and regulations. I look back at this season of life and cringe at my lack of consideration of others and of authority. I can vividly see the moral development that has taken place since that time of my life.
Kohlberg’s theory is important for my future job as an art teacher because I will need to track and see what stages of development my students may be in. Noting where they are at is incredibly significant because if I do not know, I cannot meet them where they are! If I cannot do that, then my teaching styles would be completely off and inefficient.
